Disney Parks Create Unique Halloween Magic For Guests Around the World

Each Disney Park finds creative ways to interpret spooky fun for Guests

Leveraging a legion of villains and a host of iconic attractions, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts are inviting Guests all over the world to celebrate the Halloween season. By adapting engaging characters and playful scenes, these celebrations are designed for each park's unique fan base and culture.

"Our guests now can experience a distinctly American tradition such as Halloween that has been completely reimagined in each of our Disney Parks," said Jay Rasulo, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. "Halloween allows our creative teams the chance to develop new innovative, immersive entertainment for guests of all ages, with new characters and stories such as the Pumpkin Citizens at Disneyland Paris or the Alien Invasion at Hong Kong Disneyland."

Each year, Guests create special holiday memories with their families thanks to the seasonal celebrations held at Disney Parks. These celebrations become welcomed traditions for Guests, who annually return to create their own personal memories, using elements of these seasonal stories, such as the Haunted Mansion overlay with Jack Skellington from "The Nightmare Before Christmas," as a backdrop.

Everything from the parks décor, to the food and beverage offerings, to the merchandise is developed by local creative teams to appeal to the Guests in each resort. Below are a few of the successful Halloween elements that have been interpreted and brought to life by Disney Parks' teams around the world.

• At the Disneyland Resort in California, the traditional Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party provides a trick-or-treating environment for children in Disney's California Adventure. But, this year, Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy debuted after a successful launch in Hong Kong with voyagers cast into an uncharted and haunted section of the universe. Disneyland also debuted a new nightly fireworks show, "Halloween Screams – A Villainous Surprise in the Skies" in the skies above Sleeping Beauty Castle.

• In Florida, Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating its 14th year of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. Guests enjoy endless trick-or-treating as well as Disney character interactions, Mickey's "Boo-to-You" Halloween parade and the bewitching "Happy HalloWishes" fireworks spectacular, which helped Disneyland create their new show.

• At Disneyland Paris, Mickey's Magical Party gets villainously delightful when the Pumpkin Citizens and Disney Villains get their evil way and lead the "Once Upon a Dream Parade." The Pumpkin Citizens are masters of devious decoration and mischievous pranks, transforming the park into Halloweenland by splashing the road and shop fronts of Main Street, U.S.A. with bright orange paint.

• For the first time, Tokyo DisneySea joins the Halloween festivities, decorated with pumpkins, candles and cobwebs. At Tokyo Disneyland, like the other parks in the world, Guests celebrate "Disney's Halloween" as Disney pals and mischievous ghosts host a lively Halloween party and Guests enjoy two different parades, "Disney's Halloween Parade 'Re-Villains!'" and "Disney's Halloween Parade 'Banzai!' Villains!"

• Guests at Disney's newest park, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, experience the return of dark forces as an alien spaceship appears to have crash landed. A new television commercial, created by Hollywood director Jim Sonzero, captures the alien invasion, enticing young adults to visit the park after dark…at their own risk. First introduced in 2007, HKDL's Haunted Halloween now offers 44 consecutive days of spooky fun.

• On board the ships of Disney Cruise Line, Guests setting sail in October take part in Halloween offerings such as a trick-or-treat hunt, costume parties and parades featuring Disney characters, themed movies and unique menu items that include pumpkin cheesecake, spider cupcakes and a specialty beverage called "Witch's Brew."
